| The Justice School aims to provide peace and justice education to children (6-14). We are proud to be the Community Church of Boston's Sunday School. This education program is not focused on a particular religious faith but program to help young people have faith in themselves as agents of positive change. The Justice School meets on Sundays at the Community Church of Boston. We hope you will join us in creating a proactive peace and justice community for young people. The lessons are fun and interesting and include art, skits, books, music and many social justice activist guests. |

| Justice School Update The Justice School has recently had their first overnight retreat. It was a great success! We had a peace and justice word hunt, an ice cream party, a painting workshop and a wonderful night of friendship making, cooperative learning and not much sleep! Since the last update, we have had a number of wonderful guests visit us. The members of Blak Madeen visited our class to teach about Islam, the Boston area Youth Organizing Project taught us about how people work together to make a difference, BAGLY--Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Youth were kind enough to share their coming out stories with our students and talk about why Bagly is an important organization for gay and straight youth and in what ways Bagly helps create community for young GBLT youth. Also, our students discussed the reason why we have Black History Month and whether we should or should not have it. We are now embarking on a very fun and interesting journey into U.S. History using the book: A Young People's History of the United States as a guide. Already our students have discussed Christopher Columbus and the Arawak Native Americans. I encourage you to join us this upcoming Sunday as we continue to learn about U.S. History. |
